Real estate commitment to sustainability

Sustainability roadmap

Centuria and MA Financial are committed to the development and implementation of environmental and social sustainability practices across its portfolio, while adhering to best practice corporate governance.

Sustainable practices and principles are vital within the communities and markets Centuria and MA Financial operates. We are dedicated to improving the environmental and social outcomes across our operations.

Centuria and MA Financial developed a pragmatic and achievable sustainability framework that guides our investment decisions, asset management and stakeholder relations for the betterment of the communities and markets we operate within. Our new Sustainability Framework aligns our approach to sustainability under three areas of focus.

Allendale Square is a 31-storey office building located just off St Georges Terrace close to Elizabeth Quay in the CBD. The building is centrally located in the Perth CBD and is close to public transport, restaurants, bars, hotels and Perth’s retail malls. Allendale Square consists of facilities such as retail podiums, underground food court, ground floor café and state-of-the-art end-of-trip facilities.

The building’s owner and facilities manager, Centuria and MA Financial, are committed to environmental sustainability and performance improvements for all of its assets. Based on the recommendations from sustainability consultants, Centuria and MA Financial often implements a tailored capital and maintenance works program to further enhance the asset performances.

The owners have embarked on raising the benchmarks for its building’s environmental performances as well as for the occupant health and wellbeing. Cundall has prepared this Sustainability Roadmap to assist with the endeavour.

NABERS

Allendale Square has currently achieved:

NABERS is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings, tenancies and homes. Put simply, NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment.

It does this by using measured and verified performance information, such as utility bills, and converting them into an easy to understand star rating scale from one to six stars. For example, a six star rating demonstrates market-leading performance, while a one star rating means the building or tenancy has considerable scope for improvement.

For over ten years, NABERS has helped property owners, managers and tenants across Australia to improve their sustainability performance, reaping financial benefits and building their reputation.

NABERS is managed nationally by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, on behalf of Commonwealth, state and territory governments.
